Egypt is globally recognized for its pyramids, enticing tales of magic and pharaohs etc and also as one of the ancient wonders of the world. The pyramids are so old and completed in 2560 BC making it a must-see travel destination. It as well is one of the most rapidly emerging economies in the world.

Egypt is located in North Africa and is one of the most sought-after destinations in the world. Millions of tourists around the world visit Egypt every year. In 2019 before the pandemic hit the world, the country registered 13 Million tourists and generated $12.6 billion in revenue from tourism.

According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Middle East tourist arrivals could reach about 50% to 70% of pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2022, amid signs of a strong and steady recovery in the sector.

The country leaves other countries behind when it comes to the number of magnificent monuments, historical attractions and activities. The research depicts that more than ninety per cent of all Egyptian attractions are lined up along the river Nile. Many places can therefore be visited by taking a cruise on the Nile river. Since it is a popular tourist destination, Egypt offers extraordinary facilities for tourists.

Attractions of Egypt

Pyramids – The ancient Egyptians built more than 90 royal pyramids mostly between 26300 BC and 15300 BC. Soon after the emperor died, their bodies were wrapped and preserved as a mummy, and placed in the pyramid. The most popular pyramids are the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx: Giza is known as the largest pyramid also known as the “Great Pyramid” built about 80 years before which rises an amazing 481 feet. The first pyramid, the Step Pyramid at Sakkara, was constructed during the reign of King Djoser (2630 bc -2611 bc ). The largest pyramid is the one built for King Khufu, at the sight of modern Giza.

Cairo – The capital of Egypt ‘Cairo’ is popular for entertainment. It is one of the largest markets in the world which attracts both locals and international tourists. Tourists can enjoy great entertainment by purchasing exotic Arabic clothing, perfume bottles, and other souvenirs.

Sphinx – It is about 73.5 meters (over 240 feet) in length and sculptured from a limestone outcrop. The history depicts that Sphinx has partly covered in sand. The first recorded clearing took place in the 18th Dynasty when a prince, who later became the pharaoh Thutmose IV, ordered that the sand be removed.

Egyptian Museum of Antiquities – This museum was first built in 1891. The museum is situated at Tahir square in Cairo. It has almost more than a thousand artefacts in 107 halls. There are huge statues on the ground floor whilst popular attractions on the top floor include a small statue, jewels, mummies and the Tutankhamun gallery.

Abu Simbel – It was carved out of sandstone crag high above the river Nile. Four colossal 20m-high statues of Ramses II guarding the entrance are the most famous attraction.

Karnak Temples – This temple of Egypt is the reflection of Egyptian mythology of the “Island of Creation.” It is a huge complex encompassing three main temples and many smaller ones, the most famous among them is the Temple of Amun. It is estimated that they were built in1300 BC.

Valley of the Kings – The valley of the kings is located on the west bank of the River Nile in Thebes. There are about 62 tombs in the valley. The museum has two components like the East Valley and the West Valley. The kingdom of Pharaohs located in the East Valley is one of the most visited tourist spots located in Egypt.

Siwa Oasis – The spot is famous for its dates and olives, and is one of the most beautiful landscapes and springs in Egypt. It was the most inaccessible oasis which lies 60 feet below sea level.

Nubian Museum of Aswan – It is designed to house the incredible collection of items unearthed from the archaeological excavations during the Nubia Campaign.

Alexandria – Alexandria, Alexandria National Museum, Pompey’s Pillar, Bibliotheca, King Farouk Palace and the Roman Amphitheater are the best places to see in Egypt.

Weather

The summer month in most parts of Egypt is hot and dry, and humid in the Delta and along the Mediterranean Coast. Humidity has spread to Cairo in recent years and the city almost burn in August. Winter is mild with some rain but the country usually receives bright, sunny days with cold nights.
