E-Pass system back again in Maharashtra for emergency travel

E-Pass system back again in Maharashtra for emergency travel

Maharashtra govt. re-introduced the E-pass system for inter-state and inter-district travel in case of extreme emergency only, After a recent constant surge in covid cases, Maharashtra has announced a curfew and fresh restrictions to control the COVID-19 situation in the state. The number of attendance in offices and weddings has also been capped.

The Director-General of Police Sanjay Pandey said, “The e-pass system has been reintroduced from Friday and citizens should use it in the case of absolute emergency.

If a person is unable to access the website, they can visit the nearest police station to procure the pass, Pandey informed. However, one must understand the fact that these E-passes are meant only for emergency purposes. People have to apply on https://Covid19.mhpolice.in/ and submit the necessary documents and mention the reason,”

The E-pass system was introduced last year in the country during the lockdown. It was introduced for emergency and essential services. But now once again, the Mumbai police have reintroduced color-coded stickers for essential services vehicles within the city.

The Zonal Deputy Commissioners of Police have the authority to issue these passes for traveling outside Mumbai.
