Cyprus reports 0.6% growth in tourists in Nov 2022 compared to same period last year

Cyprus: According to Cystat data, the arrivals of tourists in Cyprus reached 149.857 in November 2022 compared to 148.973 in November 2021, recording an increase of 0,6%.

For the period of January – November 2022, arrivals of tourists totaled 3.091.039 compared to 1.840.003 in the corresponding period of 2021, 621.927 in the period of January – November 2020, and 3.866.447 arrivals in the period of January – November 2019.

Analysis of countries

Arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for November 2022, with a share of 25,5% (38.265) of total arrivals, followed by Israel with 11,6% (17.380), Greece with 10,1% (15.190), Germany with 10,1% (15.065) and Poland with 9,2% (13.759).

Purpose of visit

For a percentage of 70,8% of tourists, the purpose of their trip in November 2022 was holidays, 15,0% visited friends and relatives, and 14,0% was business. Respectively, in November 2021, 75,8% of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 13,3% visited friends or relatives and 10,9% visited Cyprus for business reasons.
