Covid-19: Tamil Nadu extend the Lockdown for a week, E-Pass for inter-district travel

Tamil Nadu tighten measures till January 31

Chennai: Tamil Nadu government announced on Saturday to extend the current full lockdown in the state by another week amid the ongoing second Covid wave in the country. The restrictions will come into force from May 24 as the previous lockdown was to end on May 24.

According to the new guidelines, shops will remain open till May 23, 9 pm to help the public stock up on things. Mobile outlets, through the network of local bodies, will help supply vegetables and fruits in Chennai and across the state, said the government. All malls have been ordered to stay shut.

Banks, Private offices, said the government, will continue to operate in the work from home mode.

E-registration is compulsory for inter-district travel for medical reasons and to attend the funeral, No e-registration is required for people who travel within the district for a medical reason.

People working in pharmacies, or those supplying milk, water, and newspaper are free to move. Also, Goods vehicles carrying agricultural produce, essential products will be allowed.

E-commerce companies will be allowed to deliver orders between 8 am to 6 pm, the government said.

There is also a slots for takeaway restaurant deliveries: from 6 am-10 am; 12pm-3pm; 6pm-9pm.
