Covid-19: Random test of passengers arriving at Delhi airport

India to make RT-PCR tests mandatory for international passengers coming from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand

The Delhi government announced to run random COVID tests for passengers landing at the Delhi airport from the highly infected states of the nation. So the person who tested positive for COVID-19 during the test will have to go into mandatory quarantine.

As of now, states that have an increased number of coronavirus cases are Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab.

According to the Delhi International Airport, the tests shall be conducted by the District Disaster Management Authorities. Passengers will be permitted to exit the airport after the collection of the samples. However, it has been reported that those who are found to be COVID positive shall be asked to go into quarantine as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare protocol.

Furthermore, such tests might also be common at bus stops, and railway stations within the city.

The Delhi government has emphasized that it is extremely important to continue social distancing, and there must be a vigorous implementation of rules and regulations in relation to COVID-19. As of now, cases have been increasing in Delhi, much like most other states in the nation.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has also mentioned that one-third of the vaccination centers now will be open from 9 pm to 9 am. This is to accelerate the rate of COVID-19 vaccinations. Earlier, vaccination centers were open only between 9 am to 9 pm.
