Covid-19: Domestic travel ban lifted in Lithuania

Lithuania lifted the domestic travel ban, Health Minister Arunas Dulkys stated there was no point in extending the ban as it “exhausted its possibilities”.

According to the minister, the majority of new coronavirus cases are now linked to educational establishments and large workplaces.

The ban was introduced in mid-December and remained in force from March 16 in municipalities with the worst coronavirus situation.

The nationwide ban was then re-introduced on March 27. The government stated the move was aimed at slowing the spread of the virus over Easter.

The limit on contact between households remains.
