New Delhi, India:Â The Moscow-Goa flight carrying 236 passengers and eight crew members was diverted to the Jamnagar, Gujarat airport on Monday night following a bomb threat. It had made the emergency landing at 9.49 pm.
The National Security Guard (NSG) and the Local Police carried out an extensive search of the plane and the luggage it was carrying. The Search was completed on Tuesday Morning and Nothing suspicious was found, the officials said.
All the passengers and crew members were evacuated safely, they said.
The flight is expected to leave from Jamnagar to Goa around 11:30 am today.
The airlines had received a “threat mail” which was shared with Russian authorities. When the first information was shared, the plane was over Turkmenistan, sources have said. The Goa airport was immediately alerted before the plane was diverted to Jamnagar as it had an air force base equipped to deal with emergencies.Â
The Russian Embassy has issued a statement saying that they were alerted by the Indian authorities about the alleged bomb scare on the flight.
