Mexico’s Beaches are amazing on both oceans, the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean through the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.
On both sides, Mexico offers hundreds of beach resorts and this is the reason for its well-developed Tourism Industry.

Mexico Beaches on the Pacific from North to South
The Mexican Pacific coast goes from Baja California on the US-Mexico Border to Chiapas on the border with Guatemala. It is so long that the beaches go from sub-tropical to tropical as we move south.
Mexico’s Pacific coast runs from Baja California to Chiapas. As we move south they are Loreto, La Paz, Los Cabos, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Acapulco, Huatulco, Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido.
• Loreto – Northwest of La Paz on the Sea of Cortez, it features excellent beaches and crystal clear waters. It has five offshore islands great for water sports like fishing and all kind of Eco-Tourism.
• La Paz – This is the capital of Mexican State Baja California Sur keeps its colonial charm and has great Hotels and lots of amenities like water sports.
• Los Cabos – Cabo San Lucas Beaches are at the very end of the Baja California peninsula separated from the mainland by the Sea of Cortez. The area is great for divers, golfers and especially for sports fishing.
• San Felipe – This small village on the Sea of Cortez is emerging as one of Mexico’s fastest-growing tourist areas. Many foreigners have their vacation homes here.
• San Jose del Cabo – near Cabo San Lucas is full of nice stores, restaurants and cafes, besides having some great beaches to enjoy.
• Mazatlán – On the mainland Pacific coast is a party town for young visitors. Compared to other resort areas this one is less expensive than others much more developed and world-renowned. Mazatlan Beaches feature good hotels, great sand and clear waters and lots of entertainment like golf, fishing and many water sports.
• Punta de Mita – Before arriving in famous Puerto Vallarta you will find this relatively new resort area. It features great golf courses and fine accommodation. It is becoming popular for owning luxurious homes.
• Puerto Vallarta – This is by far one of the most famous areas of the Mexican Pacific with direct flights from many USA cities and of course all of Mexico. It features colonial cobbled streets to keep the old charm with an easy-going feel.
• Manzanillo – This is a busy port on the Pacific, and despite of this it keeps the old quiet charm of a Mexican town. The beaches are located on the Santiago Peninsula.
More Mexico Beaches on the Pacific
• Ixtapa – Zihuatanejo – These are actually two towns about 6 Km away from each other. Their character is different. Ixtapa is a modern Mexican resort with lots of deluxe accommodation and services, while Zihuatanejo keeps its rustic typical Mexican fishing village look.
• Acapulco Beaches – Lovely Acapulco is called the “Pearl of the Pacific” it has been for years the meeting place of the Rich and famous. The Mexico beaches of Acapulco are not the best in the world, but the charm felt in Acapulco is unique and it keeps attracting tourists from the rest of the country and the rest of the world.
• Huatulco – This is an area of nine bays called the Bays of Huatulco with incredible powdered sand and crystal clear waters. It is located in the far south of Mexico in the picturesque state of Oaxaca.
• Puerto Angel – This is a small fishing village midway between Huatulco and Puerto Escondido. It is a magical bay surrounded by steep hills. The beach is well protected from waves and therefore very good for swimming. It is surrounded by lush vegetation.
• Puerto Escondido – This is an authentic Mexican coastal town and very much visited by surfers from all over the world.
Mexico Beaches on the Gulf of Mexico
This area goes from the State of Tamaulipas on the Texas border to the Yucatan Peninsula.
• Tampico – This is an important port but besides that, you may enjoy some fine beaches of golden sands with the constant breeze of the Gulf of Mexico.
• Veracruz – This is the most important part of the Mexican Atlantic. It has been for ages the entrance to Mexico even before the upcoming of air travel.
It has a Caribbean Feel.
Here we mention some of the beaches in detail: The beaches along the famous Boulevard Manuel Avila Camacho, Boca del Rio about 15 minutes from the city; Mocambo a few Km south and a few others like Anton Lizardo, Isla de Sacrificios and Playa Chachalacas
• Campeche – The city of Campeche is on the large coast of the State of Campeche.
It features great beaches like Playa Bonita, located near downtown Campeche. It is a public beach with many services and of course a great temperature all year round. Other beaches are Sihoplaya, and Seybaplaya.
• Progreso – This is a typical beach town. It is located north of Merida; Yucatan features beautiful beaches, some of them in their original state.
Many of Merida’s residents have their vacation homes here. It is also a stop for many of the Top Cruise Lines visiting the Western Caribbean.
Mexico Beaches in the Caribbean – The Mayan Riviera
In many ways, the Mayan Riviera Mexico has become number one for visitors From Eastern USA and the rest of the American continent as well as for many Europeans.
• Cancun – This is Mexico’s most visited and most luxurious resort. Over 2 million people flock here annually. It offers everything for the real Caribbean Beach Vacation.
In the last 4 decades since its beginnings, Cancun has become the “Mecca” of Mexico Beaches, with lots of nightlife, water sports, restaurants and cafes and above all incredibly amazing beaches.
• Isla Mujeres – The Island of Women across from Cancun is more laid back and rustic. Tourists come here for snorkelling and scuba diving and white sands accompanied by crystal blue waters.

• Playa del Carmen Mexico – It has developed beyond any of the original plans. It is a lively city with lots of action and at any given time full of tourists from all over including North America and Europe.
Playa del Carmen has developed as the centre of the area, an hour south of Cancun. It features great beaches and is also the port for the ferry going to Cozumel.
• Cozumel – This is the biggest Mexico’s Caribbean Island with great beaches and surrounded by coral reefs waiting for you on your scuba diving adventure.
It is a must-stop for all cruise lines on their Western Caribbean itineraries. You arrive at Cozumel and enjoy their beaches or you may take the ferry and hop to the mainland for an infinite number of activities.
