Berlin Brandenburg Airport Record More than one million passengers in March

For the first time this year, more than one million passengers took off from or landed at BER again in a single month. In total, 1.3 million persons used Terminals 1 and 2 of the Berlin Brandenburg Airport last March. This is 350,000 more than was the case in February 2022. In total, the figures increased six-fold when compared to the mere 220,300 passengers in March 2021.

In March 2019, prior to the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, the airports of the time, Tegel and Schönefeld, had counted 2.9 million passengers. In Terminal 2 of BER, which has been operating since 24 March 24 2022, 26,800 passengers were counted last month. At this terminal, aircraft of the airline Ryanair are dealt with in the main.

In total, a good 3 million passengers travelled via BER Airport in the first three months of this year. This is 1.2 million more than during the entire first six months of last year.

Last month, a sum total of 12,500 aeroplanes took off and landed at BER, 2,500 more than the previous month. And in March of last year, the figure had been a mere 4,000 aircraft. In total, 2,800 tonnes of air freight were handled in March, 1,000 tonnes more than in the previous month and about the same as had been the case in the pre-Corona year 2019.
