As expected, travel at Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport declined somewhat in November 2022. Around 1.56 million people took off and landed at BER last month. In the previous month of October, the most popular month of the year for traveling thanks to the autumn holidays, there were around 600,000 more travelers. The number of passengers in November 2022 was therefore around 60 percent of that in November of the pre-pandemic year 2019. Around 1.2 million people used BER in November 2022.
BER has welcomed a total of 18.3 million passengers this year between January and November.
Last month, around 12,800 aircraft took off and landed at BER – around 3,200 fewer than in the previous month of October. In November last year, there were about 12,300 take-offs and landings. In 2019, the capital region counted a total of over 20,700 aircraft movements at Schönefeld and Tegel airports.
A total of around 3,100 tonnes of air cargo were handled last month. In the same month last year in 2021, it was around 3,000 tonnes; in November 2019, it was around 3,150 tonnes.
Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH: “November was a good month, even though the number of flights and passengers declined as usual compared to the previous month with the start of the winter flight schedule. This can be seen in comparison to November 2021, when around 400,000 fewer passengers used BER. With 18.3 million passengers in the first eleven months of 2022, we are slightly exceeding our previous expectations. Now it’s also about providing a good service in the approaching Christmas travel season.”
