The new Marvel superhero land coming this week to Disney California Adventure promises to wow visitors with Doctor Strange conjuring up magic spells, Black Panther training new recruits, Black Widow battling villains, and Spider-Man swinging across the sky.
Avengers Campus debuts Friday, June 4 at the Anaheim theme park after being shuttered for more than 400 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The superhero-themed land was initially scheduled to open in July 2020.
The park bills Avengers Campus as a former Stark Industries complex “offered up by Tony Stark as a place to train the next technology of superheroes”
Guests can learn mystic arts from Doctor Strange, train with Wakanda’s Dora Milaje royal guard, and see beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe characters like Black Widow, Thor, and for the first time at Disneyland, Ant-Man and Wasp in person.
There are two main attractions: Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!, which opened in 2017, and the new 3-D Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure.
On-Net Slingers, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker invites guests to board his latest invention, a vehicle that allows passengers to sling virtual webs from their wrists, through motion-sensor technology. Guests can further enhance their interactivity with a Web Power Band, available for purchase, which unlocks additional customizable features on the attraction.
For a real lifestyle of the MCU, guests can try several eateries, including Pym Test Kitchen, which features familiar foods in massive and miniature sizes. The adjacent Pym Tasting Lab offers oversized craft beers as well as cocktails and hard seltzers for grown-ups.
Californians will be the first to try everything out. Whereas Walt Disney World in Florida is open to all, Disneyland is currently limited to in-state residents. Disneyland Resort will reopen to out-of-state guests on June 15.
