Austrian Airlines is opening seven new destinations next summer

Austrian Airlines will once again be connecting Vienna and Shanghai twice a week

Austrian summer timetable significantly increased with almost 120 destinations and over 1,200 weekly flights

Porto, Marseille, Billund, Tivat, Palermo, Vilnius and Tromsø  are new additions to the summer programme

“Thank you Austria” campaign enables discounted tickets to popular European destinations

CCO Michael Trestl: “Austrian is resolutely expanding its summer flight schedule and is thereby underpinning its position as the clear number 1 in Austria”

After a successful summer of 2022 and a well-booked winter, the Austrian Airlines team is preparing full steam ahead for a sunny summer of 2023. With around 120 destinations and 1,250 weekly frequencies from Vienna, the home carrier would like to continue last summer and has significantly expanded its program for the coming year. With a red-white-red tail fin, a total of seven new destinations will be served in the 2023 summer timetable, in addition to proven destinations and a significantly expanded and consolidated European program.

“The growth of four new A320neo is visible in the summer timetable. More planes mean more destinations. The Austrian team has proven that we are ready to fly, so in 2023 we are going into the race with ambition,” says Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl. “We took advantage of the crisis and positioned ourselves competitively. With all determination, we will significantly expand our point-to-point traffic in summer 2023 and thus once again underpin our position as the clear number 1 in Austria. We are the most charming and trustworthy travel companions and continue on our way to connect Austria with the most beautiful places in Europe and the whole world in the best possible way. And in the Austrian way – namely socially acceptable, as well as ecologically and economically sensible.

From Porto to Tromsø: Austrian Airlines makes holiday dreams come true

The destinations Porto, Marseille, Billund and Tivat are completely new to the program. The four destinations are each served up to three times a week from Vienna. Previously served seasonally, Palermo has also been included in the scheduled summer flight schedule. In addition, the connection to Vilnius, which was already part of the Austrian route network before the corona pandemic, will be offered again. Both the popular Italian city on the north coast of Sicily and the capital of Lithuania will be served three times a week, like the four other newcomers. Furthermore, Tromsø is served once a week in summer between June and August.

In addition to a total of 43 destinations and almost 300 weekly flights to the Mediterranean, long-haul routes will of course also have a lot to ask for next summer. For example, Los Angeles is again offered in the Austrian route plan with non-stop flights from Vienna.

Austrian Airlines says “Thank you Austria”

After a successful summer of 2022 and the resulting good liquidity development as well as the granting of a credit line by the Lufthansa Group, early and full repayment of the state-secured loan granted in 2020 is possible. In order to thank the passengers and all Austrians for the trust placed in Austrian Airlines, discounted flights are available as part of a thank you campaign. “Without the support of Austria, we would not have been able to fly through this difficult time. Now it’s time to say thank you. That’s why we’re offering tickets with a discount of up to 25 percent for a total of 30 destinations, including new summer timetable destinations,” says Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl.
