Australian Travelers Are Back In Italy

More Than 17 Thousand Air Bookings From Oceania Only In The Month Of June

An Enit – Qantas agreement restarts Australian tourism in Italy. The first direct flight from Rome to Perth has been inaugurated thanks to the collaboration between Qantas and Aeroporti di Roma and the synergy with Enit for related promotion and relaunch events. The aim is to multiply the presence of Australian travellers who have scheduled over 16,862 airline bookings in June alone, with a clear recovery compared to 200 in the same month of the previous year. The National Tourism Agency has promoted 4 events of the new route in Australia including the presentation of the flight to the main Australian media in Sydney with an Italian lunch for the 25 invited media. A dedicated event in the city of Perth in the presence of about 200 invited media and opinion leaders, with the participation of Qantas CEO Alan Joyce, the Premiere of Western Australia, Mark McGowan, Qantas Chairman Richard Goyder, CEO Tourism Australia Pip Harrison and the manager of the ENIT Australia Emanuele Attanasio headquarters.

The flight was presented to a wider audience during the Republic Day celebrations organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Sydney, in collaboration with ENIT and the Italian System, in the setting of the Museum of Contemporary Art, in front of the iconic Opera House.

The promotion of the Italian destination overseas also continues, through out-of-home co-marketing campaigns in the main urban arteries of Sydney and Perth. “The flight marks a substantial recovery and a breath of fresh air for the sector. The great cities of art, the Cinque Terre, the lakes of the pre-Alpine belt, and the Amalfi Coast remain the major destinations of interest for Australian tourists. There is a marked sensitivity for the destinations of greater regional connotation, which are distinguished by the typical food and wine and lifestyle, such as the Lombard-Venetian area, the villages of Tuscany and the islands. Interest in Southern Italy is constantly increasing, especially in Puglia, Sicily and Campania. Furthermore, thanks to the golf fair scheduled in Australia in October, the aim is to implement tourism linked to big spender long haul “says Enit CEO Roberta Garibaldi.
