Austin-Bergstrom reports 37.67% growth in Passenger traffic in August 2022 compared to August 2021

Columbia Metropolitan Airport Welcomes Over 1 Million Passengers in 2022

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) passenger traffic growth for August 2022 was up 37.67% compared to August 2021 with 1,787,017 passengers flying during the month.

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for August 2022 was 1,787,017, up 37.67% compared to August 2021. August 2022 enplanements totaled 871,814, up 37.79%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 699,329, up 53.1%; American Airlines passengers totaled 439,262, up 55.5%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 211,057, up 11.8%; United Airlines passengers totaled 178,017, up 13.9%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 85,739, up 14.9%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 45,608, down 7.5%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 42,169, up 69.7%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 22,302, down 33.8%;  British Airways passengers totaled 11,841; Air Canada passengers totaled 11,046; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 9,318, down 50.1%; Hawaiian Airlines passengers totaled 6,546, up 52.8%; KLM Royal Dutch Airlines passengers totaled 6,078; Lufthansa passengers totaled 5,955; Aeromexico passengers totaled 5,051, up 7.6%; Virgin Atlantic passengers totaled 4,690; Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 2,776, down 18.8%; Qantas Airways passengers totaled 233.

August 2022 air cargo totaled 27,297,790 lbs., up 50.99% compared to August 2021. International air cargo totaled 1,410,340 lbs., up 5,175.85%. Air Transport International carried 9,683,332 lbs.; Federal Express carried 7,753,926 lbs., down 1.5%; United Parcel Services carried 3,253,298 lbs., up 9.1%; Atlas Air carried 1,708,613 lbs.; and Amerijet International Airlines carried 736,036 lbs., down 18.5%.

Air Services transferred 491,299 lbs. of mail, down 32.48%; and 2,836,405 lbs. of belly freight, up 142.77%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totalled 3,906, up 4.47%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totalled 22,855, up 23.72%.

January – August 2022

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – August 2022 was 13,751,115, up 79.71%, compared to January – August 2021. January – August 2022 enplanements totaled 6,885,234, up 79.50%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 5,269,366, up 101.9%; American Airlines passengers totaled 3,609,712, up 112.6%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 1,596,711, up 48.2%; United Airlines passengers totaled 1,394,675, up 55.3%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 609,759, up 49.5%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 354,194, down 1%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 288,824, up 112.6%;  JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 227,595, down 18.1%; British Airways passengers totaled 91,614; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 84,976, down 40%; Air Canada passengers totaled 46,780; Hawaiian Airlines passengers totaled 45,183, up 99.2%; Aeromexico passengers totaled 40,101, up 308.1%; KLM Royal Dutch Airlines passengers totaled 30,117; Lufthansa passengers totaled 26,093; Virgin Atlantic passengers totaled 17,923; Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 16,202, up 16.1%; Omni Air International passengers totaled 471; Swift Air passengers totaled 301, down 78.6%; Qatar Airways passengers totaled 285; and Qantas Airways passengers totaled 233.

January – August 2022 air cargo totalled 207,366,251 lbs., up 46.23% compared to January – August 2021. International air cargo totaled 9,529,451 lbs., up 2,363.77%. Air Transport International carried 58,186,628 lbs., up 1,751.6%; Federal Express carried 56,707,128 lbs., down 6.5%; United Parcel Services carried 25,700,983 lbs., up 15.3%; Atlas Air carried 24,874,855 lbs., up 1,651.9%; and Amerijet International Airlines carried 9,849,893 lbs., down 15.3%.

Air Services transferred 4,676,018 lbs. of mail, down 9.92%; and 21,661,923 lbs. of belly freight, up 235.01%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totalled 33,876 for January – August 2022, up 19.97%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totalled 177,919, up 50.66%.
